50 MILE*

The 50 Miler is a North-to-South blast beginning at the legendary Heysen Trail Head in Parachilna Gorge. You’ll be crossing paths with all of the other course distances through the Aroona, Trezona, Yanyanna, and Wilcolo Aid Stations before arriving at Ikara and starting the Tanderra Saddle loop. The sun is your ultimate opponent, and it’s worth racing it to catch a magical sunset on the Tanderra Saddle summit.

Transport to the Flinders Ranges

We’ve organised two buses from Adelaide to the Flinders Ranges on Thursday 30 April and Friday 1 May.

Thursday bus:

  • Departing: 0900

  • From: Adelaide CBD

  • Capacity: 20

  • Luggage limits: 2 x 80-100 litre duffel bags per person, plus a backpack for on the bus.

  • Price: $150 per person, including Sunday return trip to Adelaide.

  • Book your seat on the Thursday Bus.

Friday bus:

  • Departing: 0800

  • From: Adelaide CBD

  • Capacity: 8

  • Luggage limits: 2 x 80-100 litre duffel bags per person, plus a backpack for bus.

  • Price: $150 per person, including Sunday return trip to Adelaide.

  • Book your seat on the Friday Bus.

Getting to the Start Line

We have a shuttle bus from the Wilpena Pound Visitor’s Centre to Heysen Trail Head for the 50 Mile start. Book your bus seat through Race Roster when you register for the event.

You can also book through the MMI Website if you’ve already registered for the event but didn’t reserve a bus seat.

Registration:

  • Friday 1 May, 3 pm - 5 pm including race briefing

  • Wilpena Visitor Centre

Start:

  • Saturday 2 May, 7 am

  • Parachilna Trail Head. A shuttle bus will take runners to the start.

Finish:

  • Wilpena Pound Visitor Centre

  • Cut off: Sunday 2 May, 2 am

Presentations:

  • 10 am Sunday

Qualifying Standards: The event team has removed qualifying standards for the 50 Mile event. You can now enter the event without having to submit any qualifying runs.
